Piermont Green Garden

This 1930s house overlooks Peckham Rye Park. The existing house had a south facing single glazed conservatory which overheated in the summer and lost considerable heat in the winter.

This conservatory has been replaced with a thermally efficient garden room, which from the outside sits comfortably with the existing house, and from the inside provides a bright, comfortable space with views through to the rear garden.

The house has a particularly deep floor plan, so it was important to maximise the amount of natural light to the existing ground floor rooms.  This has been achieved by including a large linear rooflight adjacent to the original house.

Exposed Douglas Fir roof joists add warmth, texture and rhythm to the space.
