Brenhouse Road I Kitchen 2

This early Victorian terrace house in Hackney has been refurbished and extended on the ground floor to provide new family living space.  The client hoped for a space to entertain, so we created an open plan kitchen / living area with a seamless threshold to the garden patio to blur the line between inside and outside.  The client is a keen chef, so the kitchen layout and usability were considered carefully, and a bespoke kitchen was created.

The location and extent of glazing was designed to create naturally lit interior spaces, with a focus on the dining room which fell in the middle of the plan.

The form and materiality of the extension intended to fit in with the existing and surrounding houses, but with a contemporary twist.  Brick slips clad the roof to create a sculptural, unified form.
